New Zealand Children's Choral Academy
New Zealand
The New Zealand Children's Choral Academy (NZCCA) was established in 2022 by Dr Karen Grylls (CNZM) and Elise Bradley (MNZM). NZCCA harnesses the wellbeing and educational powers of singing and develops the next generation of choral leaders and outstanding young choral singers. It safeguards the future of choral art in Aotearoa by developing mastery in musical pedagogy, artistry and vocal skills and by uniting musicians from all parts of the community in song.
Along with the Junior Choir, the NZCCA Senior Choir, for singers aged 9 years and up, first began as intensive 3-4 day courses and in February 2023 this became a weekly choir. Rehearsing once a week, the choir is directed by Elise Bradley and their collaborative pianist is Cathy Bennett. The NZCCA Senior Choir enjoys various performance opportunities throughout the year including the Junior Treble Festival, and for family and friends at concerts and open evenings. NZCCA is a member of the World Alliance of Children’s Choirs as a country representative.
