Young Choral Academy
Malaysia
Young Choral Academy (YCA) is Malaysia’s first academy for choral music, and a leading hub for choral education and choral singing activities. Founded in 2007 by Susanna Saw and Chow Wei Heng, it is a welcoming and beautiful space for people from all walks of life and ages, to discover the joy of singing in a choir, to explore and develop this into a passion in a positive and nurturing environment.
Working with the Ministry of Education of Malaysia, Young Choral Academy is the proud organizer of the Malaysian Choral Eisteddfod (MCE), one of Malaysia’s leading independent festivals for choral music and the umbrella platform for the annual National Choir Competition and the biennial International Choral Festival. This platform also integrates series of workshops, masterclasses, open rehearsals, outreach programmes and competition which is open to choirs and conductors from Malaysia and abroad.

The Academy also collaborates with Malaysian composers, to commission choral arrangements of Malaysian music and new choral works, which are then published and made available for purchase.

Finally, we believe that music and singing is a reflection of our humanity and spirit, and we believe in giving back to society. Our charity arm ‘Voices of Hope’, which began in 2004, has continued to this day by dedicating an entire concert performance to various Malaysian charities, generously sponsored via fundraising during our annual concert productions by our choirs.
